On Friday, January 20, 2012, the Brain Research Foundation will host the 12th Annual Neuroscience Day at the University of Chicago’s Gleacher Center, 450 North CityFront Plaza Drive, Chicago. This unique forum is intended to provide members of the Chicago area neuroscience community with opportunities to share interests in an informal setting and to stimulate scientific interactions between universities. We strongly encourage graduate students and post doctoral fellows to present posters for this event.

Please see the webpage for Neuroscience Day information by clicking here. On this page, you can learn how to submit your abstract and sign up to listen to lectures. The display poster board dimensions are 80” wide by 60” tall (the same as Society for Neuroscience posters). Posters will be displayed in Room 621 on the sixth floor of Gleacher Center and will be assigned a number upon submission. You can refer periodically to the website to obtain the assigned number to your poster. Should you have any questions, please call the Brain Research Foundation at (312) 759-5150.

Note: Only 40 posters can be presented and only one per person.  The deadline for abstract submissions is Wednesday, January 11, 2012 by 4:00 p.m. CST. Under no circumstances will posters be accepted after the deadline. Posters must then be displayed by 8:00 a.m. on January 20, 2012.

2 Post Doctoral Awards

Present your poster on January 20, 2012 for your chance to win $500. All you have to do is click here, choose the 'Present a poster' option, fill out your contact information, and download and submit the abstract form. Forty posters will be presented, and they are on a first come first serve basis. Lunch will be provided for poster presenters. 

The logistics of Neuroscience Day are as follows: Posters will be exhibited on the sixth floor of the Gleacher Center from 9:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. The Brain Research Foundation will be awarding $500 each, to 2 outstanding Graduate Student posters, and $500 to 2 outstanding Post Doctoral Fellow posters.  A panel of judges will be evaluating the posters and selecting the awardees. The panel of judges will be made up of neuroscientists from various institutions in Chicago. Each judge will review posters during the morning, maintaining the same protocol and procedure.  Final scores will not be published.

Immediately following the poster presentations, plan on attending lectures from extraordinary guest speakers covering areas within the neurosciences. The speakers are as follows:

David J. Freedman, Ph.D., University of Chicago
Catherine S. Woolley, Ph.D., Northwestern University
Dimitri Krainc, M.D., Ph.D., Harvard University
